Composer

Karim Bedda writes orchestral, chamber, solo & vocal music, as well as songwriting and producing for visual media. He has a wide range of influences from British folk music to the more experimental.

Example Works

- Guitar Concerto -

In Search of Silence

Excerpts from a 30-minute guitar concerto for classical guitar and string orchestra (with harp and percussion). This extended work explores modal music in addition to microtonal harmony and polymeter between parts of the orchestra. The interplay between the soloist and the orchestra develops gradually throughout the three movements, sometimes harmoniously, and sometimes at odds with each other, before resolution is found at last.

The Golden Spiral makes use of musical echo, microtonal harmony, mismatch and synchronisation of pulse, as well as creating overlapping musical "pockets" of contrasting meter and tonality to create unique and blurred transitions between the ever-evolving ideas.

- Film Soundtrack -

The Second Shot Kills

A passion project and hommage to James Bond, The Second Shot Kills was originally filmed by a group of Newport teenagers decades ago before being rediscovered and remastered. Being brought on board as the composer, Karim took on the challenge of creating an original 007-themed soundtrack. Incorporating a core set of thematic ideas, these are just a couple of the tracks produced along with the footage that inspired them.
